Track 12 Hazy Sunny Week Away

Feb 5, 2026

This fun sixty style number is in direct contrast to the previous song on the album: NO Means NO! It is designed to reflect the Holiday Camp atmosphere of the period.

Just one week after her disastrous encounter with Jimmy, Judy sets off on holiday with Terry, Nester and his girlfriend Jackie. The four Mods on two scooters travel from Hertfordshire to Littlestone-on-Sea on the south coast. The Madisons Holiday Camp there was typical of the holiday camp era pioneered by Billy Butlin of Butlins Holiday Camp fame.

Holiday Camps back then consisted of several prefabricated chalets with central toilet and shower blocks. There was a dance and stage hall, for nighttime entertainment. An outdoor swimming pool, central playing field and the all-important communal dining hall. Loudspeakers dotted around the place allowed the entertainment organisers to communicate with campers calling them to events and meals.

Judy and Terry were eight months into their relationship, deeply in love, but their relationship had not been consummated. This, their first time away together, was the opportunity to have lots of fun and commit to one another romantically. The opening lines of this song describe how campers were called to breakfast to the William Tell Overture played over the Tannoy causing campers to stampede across the playing field to be first at the restaurant. Lots of fun in the sun.
