At this stage of the story or movie, Judy and her best friend Gerry are firmly established as couples with their Rocker boyfriends; Judy and Jimmy, Gerry and Jokerman (Jimmy’s best friend).
Autumn has started and the Rockers from the Busy Bee have organised one last Sunday ride out before the weather changes. The Busy Bee Café was a transport café by day for lorry drivers and a Biker café by night and weekends. The Busy Bee was so famous at the time that locals who grew up in the sixties still refer to the roundabout by the Watford Hilton as the Busy Bee roundabout.
On that sunny Sunday morning back in 1963 thirty bikers had assembled at the Busy Bee car park. After a bacon sandwich and cup of tea they set off for Southend-On-Sea for a day at the seaside. Thirty bikers led by Jimmy on his beloved Triumph 500cc Twin set off in staggered formation.
This song captures the moment. Listen to the song and you can almost hear the roar of the bikes, smell the oil and picture the scene as the rode into Southend-On-Sea. They made lots of noise, were often boisterous but rarely threatening.
After a great day out, a fish and chip lunch they all headed back to the Busy Bee. Visualise the scene complete with a girl fight at the end of the mile long pier.
